Vanessa Brooks, Inc. is a family run business, based in South Florida. The combined experience of Vanessa & Keith Brooks covers about 20 years in various fields, including IT, Finance, Banking, Sales, Consulting, Marketing, Complementary Healthcare & Management in all shapes and forms. Together they have over 15 years of international management experience.
Today, Vanessa & Keith are the parents of two preschoolers, who have been instrumental in encouraging them to take a more environmentally friendly direction.
Vanessa, longtime a fan of the more natural, earth friendly route in life, was so disturbed by the idea of disposable diapers sitting in a dump for millions of years that she chose to use cloth diapers for her babies. In addition to cloth diapers, the Brooks used only natural, preservative free personal care products for all members of the household. Shortly after, Vanessa Brooks Inc. became a retailer for a popular brand of all-natural personal care products. The company was doing a tremendous amount of business on an international level and within the US. The company became a supplier to hospitality organizations in South Florida, and was given the exclusive distribution rights to hotels in South Florida for a natural sleep enhancer called "Sleep Balm", a product of another all-natural company. Unfortunately due to company buyouts and takeovers, Vanessa Brooks Inc. lost their distributorships in favor of larger stores.
Determined not to be limited again by circumstances beyond their control, a decision was made by Vanessa Brooks Inc. to branch out and help the environment in a much larger way.
Experience in the world of business has provided an in depth understanding of how computer and electronic equipment just never quite gets recycled. Sometimes it is left to collect dust in a closet, then a cubicle or office and ultimately in a warehouse!
Why is this? Mostly due to the broad, often conflicting information related to privacy acts and data security, especially in relation to government and financial bodies.
As computer equipment has advanced through the years, so has the need and want to always have the most up to date machines. However, this leaves a significant problem - what do these companies do with their now defunct equipment? Storage becomes an expense, and yet to wipe hard drives is not enough - it does not guarantee that all information becomes invisible. Local waste management services no longer accept deliveries of computer equipment and will not even take them from private homes, as this type of waste represents a serious hazard and does not belong in a landfill.
In keeping with their environmentally friendly philosophy, Vanessa Brooks Inc. wants to reach out and ensure that all computer equipment is recycled and disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.
